DONATE BLOOD
It is a fact that there are absolutely no substitutes to replace human blood. Henceforth, it is the blood donated by responsible donors which enables us to store sufficient blood for the patients needing it. Apart from donating blood which is commonly known as blood transfusion there are some other blood components that are also transfused to the human body which plays a vital role to support various medical procedures.
The other components of blood such as platelets generally help to control bleeding by clotting the blood. Patients undergoing chemotherapy treatment (medical treatment for patients suffering from cancer) are quite frequently injected with platelets in order to minimize the risk of bleeding.
Rajiv Gandhi Cancer Institute & Research Centre encourages blood donations for more than 18 years of age who are active and healthy. Pathologists do a routine examination before taking the samples, which includes taking temperature, pulse, blood pressure and Hemoglobin readings.
