CANCER INDICATIONS
Breast Cancer
A large number of basic and translational breast cancer research projects are coordinated by RGCIRC Biorepository. The studies are performed both in-house and also in collaboration with other academic institutes like Institute of Genomics and Integrative Biology to tackle the problems, clinical discovering new approaches and translating findings to the clinic. Over a decade, our biorepository has enhanced the quality of research and have also participated in large scale studies involving spatial transcriptomics. RGCIRC Biorepository banks snap frozen tissues, adjacent normal tissues, plasma and FFPE from each consented donor. Serum, Whole blood collections and Tumor Microarrays can be customised as per researcher’s request. Clinical
annotation includes- Demographic data, Social History, Histopathology Report, Genomic IHC data, Treatment details and complete 3-5 year follow up. Specific cohort clusters based on ER/PR/Her 2 status can be provided on request. Clinical datasets are also made available on request.
Gastrointestinal (Gi) Cancers
Upper gastrointestinal cancers include oesophageal cancer, stomach cancer, small bowel cancer, pancreatic cancer, liver cancer and cancers of the biliary system. Bowel or Lower gastrointestinal (or lower GI) cancer refers to cancers of the large bowel (colon and rectum) and the anus. Colorectal cancer (CRC) is one of the prevalent forms of cancer in both genders. RGCIRC Biorepository banks snap frozen tissues, adjacent normal tissue, plasma and FFPE from each consented donor. Serum, Whole blood collections and Tumor Microarrays can be customised as per researchers’ request. Clinical annotation includes- Demographic data, Social History, Histopathology Report, Genomic IHC data, Treatment details and complete 3-5 year follow up. MSI
status and MMR gene specific cohort clusters can be provided on request. Clinical datasets are also made available on request. Other available cancer types include gastric and esophageal cancers as well . Snap frozen tissue, FFPE Blocks and frozen plasma samples are available both from treatment naïve and post treated cases.
Genitourinary (GU) Cancers
Genitourinary (GU) cancers encompass all cancers associated with the urinary tract and reproductive glands. This includes bladder, penile, prostate, renal, and urinary tract cancers. RGCIRC Biorepository banks snap frozen tissues, adjacent normal tissues, plasma and FFPE from each consented donor. Specific cohort clusters can be provided based on Gleason’s grading. Serum, Whole blood collections and Tumor Microarrays can be customised as per researchers’ request. Clinical annotation includes- Demographic data, Social History, Histopathology Report, Genomic IHC data, Treatment details and complete 3-5 year follow up. Digital pathology images are also available on request. Over the past decade our clinical centre has seen a rise in the
number of cases and so an exploratory work was initiated in the basic research division performing the whole exome of Prostate cancer using Tumor tissue, plasma and urine samples.
Gynaecological Cancers
Gynaecological cancers are cancers of the woman’s reproductive system. It includes cancers of the cervix, endometrium, ovaries, vagina, and vulva. High grade serous ovarian tumours are the most studied cancers as they are associated with treatment resistance and relapses. Our centre has both initiated and collaborated with oversees researchers seeking to understand how these tumors metastasize and have also supported clinical trials engaging immunotherapeutics. RGCIRC Biorepository banks snap frozen tissues, matched plasma and FFPE from each consented donor. Serum, Whole blood collections and Tumor Microarrays can be customised as per researchers’ request. Clinical annotation includes- Demographic data, Social History, Histopathology Report,
Genomic IHC data, Treatment details and complete 3-5 year follow up. Digital pathology images are also available on request.
Hepato-Pancreato-Biliary Cancers
Hepato-Pancreato-Biliary Cancer including cancers originating in the liver, gallbladder, pancreas and neuroendocrine system. The prevalence of Gall Bladder Cancer in the gangetic belt and its poorly understood pathogenesis serves as a driver for researchers to understand the disease in entirety. High mortality associated with HPB tumors especially the neuroendocrine subsets and ampullary carcinomas is another intriguing question which is being explored widely. Our inventory includes snap frozen tissues, adjacent normal tissues, plasma and FFPE from each consented donor. Serum, Whole blood collections and Tumor Microarrays can be customised as per researchers’ request. Clinical annotation includes- Demographic data, Social History,
Histopathology Report, Genomic IHC data, Treatment details and complete 3-5 year follow up. Digital pathology images are also available on request.
Lung Cancer
RGCIRC is the centre of excellence for lung cancer testing. Lung cancer is a dreaded disease with high mortality and associated high treatment costs. Early detection, newer targeted therapies and pathways underlying resistance are the driving areas in lung cancer treatment in India. Liquid biopsy is a frequently used diagnostic method in our centre. Blood and saliva are good sources of genomic material and most commonly requested biosamples by researchers. RGCIRC Biorepository banks snap frozen tissues, adjacent normal tissues, plasma and FFPE from each consented donor.
Molecular testing can be performed on a cost basis.
