RESPIRATORY MEDICINE AND INTERVENTIONAL PULMONOLOGY SERVICES

The Department of Respiratory Medicine and Interventional Pulmonology caters to the entire diagnostic and therapeutic requirements of the hospital in the field of respiratory medicine.

It has two senior consultants, one junior consultant and two fellows who provide round the clock comprehensive respiratory services.

The department is engaged in a wide variety of respiratory procedures including Videobronchosocpy, Medical thoracoscopy, Endobronchial ultrasound- both convex probe and radial probe, Rigid bronchoscopy, Electrocautery, Brachytherapy, Cryotherapy, Balloon bronchoplasty, Mechanical coring, Pleural drainage with indwelling catheters and Percutaneous Tracheostomy.

The department is regularly engaged in academic activities and is recognized as a centre of excellence at a national level. It attracts a lot of visiting young pulmonologists for training from India and abroad. It also runs a, much sought after, fellowship program in Interventional Pulmonology and Thoracic Oncology under the directorship of Dr Rajiv Goyal. It has recently been recognized as a national referral centre for training in Cryotherapy.
