Pain Services
We manage routinely acute and chronic pain conditions like postoperative pain, cancer related pain syndromes, neuropathic pain, treatment related peripheral neuropathy, back pain, facial pain in head and neck cancers, post herpetic neuralgia, musculoskeletal pain, headaches, psychological pain and grief using multimodal pain techniques.
1. Interventional Pain Management
- CT/ fluoroscopy guided blocks for head & neck cancer causing facial pain and headache.
- CT guided Neurolytic Coeliac plexus block for upper abdominal malignancies, superior hypogastric for lower abdominal and ganglion impar block for perineal pain.
- Ultrasound Guided peripheral nerve blocks and myofascial trigger points for thoracic cancers, nerve entrapment syndromes.
- Radiofrequency Ablation of nerves, Chemical Neurolysis(alcohol/ phenol/glycerol).
2. We follow the concept of ‘TOTAL’ Pain Relief
All aspects of patients’ suffering not only physical pain but also psychological, spiritual and social distress are taken into account via a holistic and empathetic approach.
3. Pain Free Hospital
Care givers and medical staff are very responsive to the patient needs and trained in recognizing pain as the fifth vital sign. They promptly institute corrective measures and call the pain management team for early consult and relief of pain.
Pain Clinic
Acute pain services are managed with Patient control analgesia (PCA) pumps, epidural and neuraxial blocks. Chronic Cancer pain is managed using a multimodal approach, ranging from the use of oral analgesics including NSAIDs, co-analgesics, various forms of morphine, opioid titration, transdermal fentanyl patch, buprenorphine patch, Neurolytic nerve blocks to radiofrequency ablation of nerves given under fluoroscopic guidance.
The Pain Clinic actively provides Palliative Care services as well where treatment for a variety of symptoms affecting patients with advanced cancer.
