How to Become a Volunteer ?
Volunteers play an important role in today’s hospitals. They help the hospital run smoothly, and allow doctors and nurses to spend their time focusing on providing the best healthcare for their patients. Volunteers assist hospital employees in caring for patients and visitors. A hospital volunteer works in a hospital without regular pay. They essentially donate their time and skills to help the hospital and community.
- Compassionate, motivated and committed
- Good communicators with a desire to help patients and caregivers
- Diverse in age, gender, ethnicity and socio-economic background
- Some who have had a personal or family experience with cancer
We welcome participants at any hour, but the greatest need is for volunteers with time from Monday through Saturday between the hours of 9:00 am and 5:00 pm. Volunteers must maintain a good attendance record and must give an average of at least 6 hours of service each month. Generally, we prefer adults who can make a commitment to participate for 1 year. For students, the minimum is 4 weeks.
