PACES 2024 (2nd Annual Symposium) hosted by RGCIRC Niti Bagh, South Delhi in view of the celebration of the World Hospice and Palliative Care Day (WHPCD). The highlighted core elements this year included:
Team approach
Palliative care is an ongoing process of team building. It supports the drive to collaborate as a team, to overcome any deficiencies, to build on strengths, and to pursue goals that will benefit society as a whole. A combination of the five Ps—purpose, participation, placement, process, and plan—should be carefully considered in order to improve member cooperation, which in turn promotes development.
Staff
To provide excellent palliative care services, a multidisciplinary team with compassion and empathy is essential. Every palliative care facility in the world should be providing ongoing mentoring and education to its staff members through both official training programs and casual conversations that occur between rounds.
Geriatric palliative care
According to WHO data, the so-called “greying” of the country—the rise in the senior population from 7.6% in 2010 to 12.5% in 2026—will result in a greater need for geriatric palliative care. They will undoubtedly suffer from physiological decline, comorbid illnesses, and psychosocial stress, and they will need hospice care to meet their unfulfilled requirements.
We are pleased to offer these services to our patients, as demonstrated by the 95-year-old professional swimmer in the above picture, who had minimally invasive pain and spine intervention (MIPSI) for the purpose of managing pain brought on by vertebral wedging in the lumbar spine. MIPSI was performed under ultrasound guidance in a day care set up. She is living life to the fullest and we are determined to help her keep her standard of living high.
Palliative Care support group
A support group consists of individuals who share similar experiences and issues. PACES 2024 serves as the foundation for creating the “Palliative Care Support Group” at RGCIRC. This initiative presents a chance to raise awareness about palliative care within the community, share personal stories, assist other patients in articulating their emotions, offer coping strategies, and discuss treatment alternatives for chronic illnesses, such as cancer.
Booklet (FAQ in Palliative Care)
During the integrated palliative care, hospice care, and end-of-life care phase, patients and family members ask a variety of questions about the illness, prognosis, treatment, expected events, nursing care, psychological aspects, finances, goals of care, ACPs, etc. In order to compile these questions into a book, we at RGCIRC launched it at PACES 2024. This booklet will undoubtedly help caregivers understand the elements and principles of palliative care as well as provide answers to often asked issues that crop up when they are having difficulty providing care for a loved one.
As a society, RGCIRC is looking forward to get support from generous people
