Dr. Jain clarifies that palliative care enhances the quality of life for individuals with serious illnesses and their families by managing physical, emotional, social, and spiritual suffering. It is not restricted to cancer patients; it is also effective for chronic conditions such as heart failure and COPD and can be integrated at any stage of illness. Patients can begin or discontinue palliative care as needed without affecting their ongoing medical care.
